Driving

Today our class, Aurora went to the Leinster Driving Campus in Maynooth. We were divided into two groups. First our group learned about the drivers theory test which we were in either groups of 3 or 4. We talked about how you get your license and how old you have to be etc. We then had a break around 11:15.

After the break we went in our different groups to a car and an instructor then came over. When we got in the car we learnt the basics of how to use the gears and the clutch etc. The campus had traffic lights, bends, long roads and hills we got to practice on. It was pretty surreal and you actually feel quite nervous before your turn but once its your turn it fine and actually really fun. I never knew there was so much involved in driving. I'm  really looking forward to getting my learners permit and being able to drive!

Fashion Show!!

Last Tuesday and Wednesday our school had a Fashion show in the Celbridge Manor Hotel. All the models looked amazing! they modeled clothes from Liffey Valley, Manor Mills and boutiques in Celbridge and the surrounding area.
There was lots of entertainment from Irish dancers, Ballet dancers, Modern dancers, a Choir, Glee club and a TY music group.
The teachers even had their own dance which everyone really enjoyed and found funny!
All the TY mini companies got a room to sell their products at the Fashion Show. This was really good because this gave us the opportunity to sell and get our name out there.

Digital dossier

As one of our blog challenges is to write about our digital footprint. At first when i read what we had to do i didn't have a clue what it was, like our footprint isn't digital! But after a watched a video about digital dossier i learned it actually doesn't have anything to do with our feet, its actually to do with what we leave behind about ourselves on the internet.

My digital footprint began before I was even born, at just 5 months after my sonogram it would have been e-mailed to my family and friends and printed for a record for the pediatrician. This was the followed by pictures or messages about me when i was born.

My digital footprint has been updated throughout my life, whether it was my sisters posting pictures of me on facebook or setting up my own Club Penguin it was added to my digital footprint.

Today I'm still updating my digital footprint:

    • Instagram: I post pictures of myself for others to see.
    • Snapchat: I send pictures of myself or where I am and send it to my friends.
    • Kik: I chat to my friends in a group chat.
    • Google: I research information for school.
    • Bohoo: I purchase clothes from here.
Even in the future i will constanly be adding to my digital footprint and my digital footprint will continue to go on until i die and maybe even afterwards.

Carlingford

On September the 15th we the TY's went to Carlingford for one night. We had to meet at Esso at 7:00 in the morning which for some of us we had to be up at like 6:00 which was way to early! we waited for everyone to come because we wouldn't want to leave anyone behind which would have been terrible, we were on the road before we knew it.
we arrived at Carlingford at 9 and were assigned our rooms. We got to choose who we were in a room with. After we went to our assigned rooms and declared who got top bunks we set off for our first activity........ Kayaking.. We were told the basic instructions of how to paddle a kayak. We paddled to a little beach where we played team building games. After kayaking we headed back to the center for lunch. We had sausages, beans and chips. When we finished lunch we then went to the Lazer Lane where we put on a khaki onesie. We were given guns which were quite heavy and it didn't help that we had to walk up a steep hill that lead us to woods in the mountain where we would be doing the lazer tag. We were split into two teams ( I was the RED Team!!!!............and the blue team). Everyone got very competitive at lazer tag. The red team instructor Martin gave us a number of inspirational quotes to help us win! one of the ones i remember was "You miss 100% of the shots you dont take". His quotes clearly didnt help because we still lost..... but its the thought that counts!! We then went back to the adventure center for dinner where we ate spaghetti bolognase. i thought we  were finished for the day but we were told we were going to be making our way back to the forest where we would have a night line walk.   We were blindfolded and had to walk around the forest only holdeing a rope and trusting the person in front of you it was great fun! When it was over we were given 2 hours to do what we wanted. Some of my friends got chipper chinese of like me got koka pot noodles. We then went to a room where there was lights and music! It was really fun!! We had to be in our rooms by 11, but thats when we began our feast of sugar overload!!
The following day we were woken up at 7:30 by a One Direction song playing through the intercom! We went for breakfast and then had to be ready by 9:00 so we could get going back to the water where we would canoed. We canoed out to a water trampoline and then jumped off it into the water and it was Baltic! We then canoed a bit further to  a cave where we held under a waterfall which we were told would give us "eternal health" but all it did for me was make me cold! It was then lunch time where we ate sausages rools and then we walked up a hill to a filed where we had to do a challenge course. we were then put into teams to collect gems. We had to crawl through  maze in the dark, walk over a mud pool carrying a barrel with a few planks of wood. It was really hard but we finished with smiles on our faces. Sadly it was time to go after the challenge course. Even though we were all sleep deprived on the bus it did not stop us from eating more sweets than we should. The few days we had at Carlingford was a great experience and lots of fun and it really helped our year bond which was good! I hope we get to go on more trips like this!
